The premiere of the documentary of special historical importance "The Plavjans Did Not Surrender" was shown at the "Jusuf Gërvalla" cinema in Peja, in an event organized by the Mayor of Peja Municipality, Gazmend Muhaxheri.

The documentary brings for the first time authentic accounts of living witnesses and archival footage from the tragic events of September 1998, when thousands of Albanians from Dukagjin and Kosovo faced the violence of Serbian military and police forces.

Through testimonies and film materials, the "titanic struggle" for survival and the continuous efforts to escape a massacre that many historians have compared to the danger of a "second Srebrenica" are presented.

The documentary focuses on the village of Meteh in Plav, a place where thousands of Albanian civilians were rounded up with the intention of separating the men from the women and then executing them. According to the documentary, it was the courage and solidarity of the people of Plav, as well as the commitment of the Montenegrin forces, that prevented the crime and saved hundreds of lives.

The premiere praised the work of the documentary's authors, Zekë Sinanaj and Islam Haxhiu, who through this project have brought important historical evidence to the general public.

The Municipality of Peja has thanked all contributors to the production of the documentary, emphasizing the importance of preserving collective memory and documenting historical truth. /Telegrafi/
