The parties are not moving from their positions, Haxhiu: I am not optimistic that the situation will change in tomorrow's session

After the next failure to elect the speaker of the Kosovo Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, MP of the Vetëvendosje Movement and candidate for this position, commented on the current situation in an exclusive interview on the show "Përballje" with editor-in-chief Muhamet Hajrullahu on Telegrafi.com.

Haxhiu stressed that since April 15, the Assembly has failed to be constituted, initially due to the opposition's refusal to vote on the verification of MPs' mandates, and now due to the rejection of its name for speaker.

"I am not very optimistic that the situation will change in tomorrow's session, as the positions of the opposition parties have been made clear publicly. In my opinion, there is a lack of will to constitute the Assembly and to move forward with the procedures for electing the Government," Haxhiu declared.

She added that the responsibility for constituting the Assembly belongs to all political entities and not just the majority or Vetëvendosje.

As for the election of the Government, the responsibility falls on the mandate holder and the winning party.

Haxhiu recalled that the Constitution of Kosovo and the Constitutional Court's ruling give only the winning party the right to propose a candidate for Speaker of the Assembly.

According to her, the opposition is rejecting not only her candidacy, but in some cases every other possible candidate.

"In this situation, the LDK has declared that it will not support either Albulena Haxhiu or any other candidate, while two other entities have requests for other names," concluded Haxhiu.

In this interview, Haxhiu also spoke about other topics as well as criticism of the political parties, PDK, LDK and AAK.

She also spoke about the political impact this impasse has on the Kosovo Assembly.Telegraph/
