Landlord is shocked to discover that the apartment he rented out was turned into a chicken coop

A Shanghai man was shocked to discover that the apartment he rented two years ago had been turned into a chicken coop and irreparably damaged.

Imagine investing all your savings to buy and renovate an apartment, renting it out for a small profit, and then discovering that the tenant had been using it to raise chickens. This sounds like a joke, but it's the true story of a Chinese man whose neighbors recently told him that strange noises and a foul smell were coming from the apartment he had rented for two years.

Satisfied with receiving his monthly rent on time, the man hadn't checked the apartment until last month, when he was shocked to find it filled with chickens moving and flying around.

"It smells terrible," the furious owner told Dianshi News, adding that "both the floor and the walls are badly damaged. It needs to be completely renovated, otherwise no one can live there."

The owner, whose name was not disclosed by Chinese media, complained that the rent he had received from the tenant over the past two years was not even enough to cover the costs of the necessary renovation. He is currently seeking advice online on how to deal with the situation. One of the neighbors, a woman surnamed Wu, told reporters that she and other neighbors had complained to the building administration about the strong smell coming from the apartment, but the tenant had simply closed the property's windows. Meanwhile, damage to the apartment's floors and walls continued.

"I am very sad that the house, which I decorated with so much effort, was destroyed like this the first time I rented it out," the owner complained, adding that he had called the police after discovering the situation.

Legally, the landlord can take the matter to court and seek compensation for major damage to the property, but there is no guarantee that the tenant will be able to provide compensation. /Telegraph/
