The new Audi A6 limousine is presented

After the wagon, Audi also introduced the limousine version of the new "six".

It may seem like every new model these days has to be a crossover, but the classic sedan hasn't said its last word yet. Especially when it comes to premium brands.

These brands flourished at the very time when the classic limousine was at the peak of popularity, and thanks to this, they financed the development of their SUV lines, reports Telegraph.

Even though sedan sales have declined, demand for this body style is still strong enough to justify new investments.

A good example of this is the new generation of the Audi A6.

The new A6 was first introduced earlier this month, but then in the more practical Avant wagon variant with a larger boot.

As expected, the sedan looks almost identical to the Avant, except for the rear. Interestingly, Audi decided to introduce the new A6 sedan without the S Line package.

Usually, promotional photos show the most expensive and well-equipped versions, and the one shown clearly isn't the base model, although it's not the most luxurious either.

Unlike the all-electric Audi A6 E-Tron, the SUS A6 does not have separate headlights. Although they share the same name, the two models are not mechanically related to each other.

The combustion engine version uses the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) platform, the same as the new A5, while the electric A6 is based on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) mechanical platform, which Audi developed together with Porsche.

The A6 remains a true sedan with a classic trunk, unlike the confusingly named A5 sedan, which is now actually a liftback like the former A5 Sportback.

The new A6 is Audi's most aerodynamic combustion engine car to date, with a drag coefficient of just 0.23.

However, the previously mentioned electric A6 E-Tron is even better in this regard (the Cd coefficient is 0.21 if you choose digital cameras instead of mirrors).

The new A6 is 4,99 m long, which is 60 mm longer than the previous model. The wheel rims range from 21 to 23 inches.

Surprisingly, the interior is identical to that of the caravan, including all three digital screens.

An 11,9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14,5-inch central infotainment screen are standard, while an additional 10,9-inch passenger screen is available as an option.

Audi recently admitted that interior quality has declined in recent years, but is now promising improvements.

The new A6 has 30% better sound insulation, thanks in part to acoustic glass in the rear windows.

The luggage compartment is 492 liters behind the rear seats, which are divided in a 40:20:40 ratio, while the Avant offers 503 liters, or 1,534 liters with the seats folded.

Plug-in hybrids are expected to have smaller trunks due to battery space.

For now, Audi has only confirmed classic versions with internal combustion engines.

The base model has a 2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 204 horsepower, driving the front wheels.

The larger 6-liter V3 with a “mild” hybrid system and Quattro offers 367 horsepower.

As for the diesel option, there is a 2.0 TDI with 48-volt technology that produces 204 horsepower, with the option of front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

In all-wheel drive versions, up to 70 percent of the power can be transmitted to the rear axle.

Until the S6 arrives, the six-cylinder version of the A6 will be the fastest, accelerating to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h.

The new A6 sedan will arrive in showrooms in April, with a starting price of 55,500 euros in Germany. Deliveries to German customers will begin in the summer. /Telegraph/
