The mystery of the murder of Sergeant Muhamed Lika, investigations deepen

The Kosovo Police, in cooperation with the Basic Prosecution Office of Ferizaj and the Special Prosecution Office, conducted an extensive investigative operation in the early hours of this morning in the Ferizaj region, in connection with the murder of Kosovo Police Sergeant, Muhamed Lika.

Former Kosovo Police Colonel Refki Morina has confirmed that the operation is related to deepening the investigations and collecting new evidence that could help in fully unraveling this criminal offense.

"According to the investigations, evidence and facts so far, it is likely that the operation will focus on identifying potential accomplices in the commission of the murder. The manner of the commission and the circumstances of the case indicate that among those involved there may also be persons with a criminal past," said Morina.

According to him, at this stage, the method of commission, the collaboration between the suspects, and any possibility of public speculation without full evidence are being sought to be argued.

In a direct link to RTV Dukagjini, former Police investigator Halit Shaljani emphasized that the investigations aim to collect evidence to support the accusation in this serious case.

"We must have faith in the institutions, but at the same time we must avoid public judgment. Some of those arrested claim to have alibis – this will be proven by the investigations. Until then, they are only suspects," he said.

Shaljani added that the motive for the crime is still under investigation, but ruled out any element of extremism as a motive for the murder. "Fortunately, we have specialized units within the Police, including the anti-terrorism unit. So far, there are no indications that this murder is related to extremism," he said.

Morina emphasized the need for community involvement in preventing such phenomena.

"Not only the police, but also schools, health institutions and the community itself must be engaged in education and prevention," Morina emphasized.

The investigation into the murder of Sergeant Lika remains open, while seven people have been arrested in connection with the case. Authorities have warned that such operations will continue until the incident is fully resolved.Dukagjin/
