David Zaikin is the man who has attracted the attention of "Politico", to the point of devoting a long article to him entitled: "The international man of mystery" related to the Michael Flynn lobbying deal.As Politico magazine reports, over two years ago, two men began visiting Washington with the aim of promoting the Turkish agenda in the American capital. They dined with celebrities and enlisted the support of the most prominent lobbying firms on both sides.

This was nothing to note in Washington, except for one significant detail: the last lobbyist either of these men hired was General Flynn, then a powerful campaign spokesman for Donald Trump, later suspended from office. the National Security adviser for lying about conversations with the Russian ambassador.

Flynn's client, Turkish businessman Ekim Alptekin, ended up under the scrutiny of federal investigators, who are looking into the general's lack of transparency in relation to foreign contacts.

While the other person involved in the pro-Turkish efforts has so far managed to avoid public attention, which for "Politico" turns this individual into an intriguing figure in the mystery surrounding foreign influence in Washington.

Dmitry “David” Zaikin is not registered as a foreign lobbyist and has no apparent ties to Turkey. What he does have, according to Politico, is a long list of partnerships with powerful Russian businessmen and government officials, mostly involved in energy and mining deals.

Most recently, while working for Turkey, Zaikin lobbied for VMRO-DPMNE, which appears to be getting closer to the Kremlin, and for the Socialist Movement for Integration in Albania. This person, Politico continues, also has business ties to Trump.

While working at a real estate agency in Toronto in the 2000s, he brokered the sale of the Trump International Hotel and Trump Tower.

Perhaps it was a coincidence that Zaikin also had close ties with a Russian woman who was the exclusive agent of one of Trump's businesses in Florida, described by a newspaper in Russia as the "Russian hand" of the New York billionaire. /tch/
