A person was killed on Wednesday afternoon in a bar in Skenderaj, while two people have been arrested in connection with the murder so far.

Police spokesperson for the Mitrovica region, Avni Zahiti, told Telegrafi on Wednesday that the victim is a 42-year-old man.

“…On February 12, 2025, at around 13:50 p.m., the police in Skenderaj received information about gunshots on 'Sala e Hamit Jashari' street in Skenderaj.


"According to information, the shooting took place inside a bar where, as a result of the gunshots and the injuries sustained, the male victim, aged around 42, a citizen of the Republic of Kosovo, lost his life," Zahiti said.

Meanwhile, the Basic Prosecution Office of Mitrovica announced that the two suspects in this case have been identified and that initially the suspects were on the run.

"The prosecutor of the case from the Serious Crimes Department immediately went to the scene where it was found that one person had been killed. The case has been classified as 'serious murder' and two suspects have been identified...", said the spokesperson for the Basic Prosecution of Mitrovica, Valon Preteni.

A few hours after the murder of the 42-year-old, Kosovo Police initially announced the arrest of one suspect and then the arrest of the second suspect.

Initially, on Wednesday evening, 62-year-old HI was arrested, suspected of murder inside a bar on "Sala e Hamit Jashari" street in Skenderaj.

According to the Police, during the raid on the suspect's home, authorities seized a long gun, a magazine with 30 rounds, 15 rounds of another caliber, and three revolvers.

After questioning, by decision of the prosecutor, the suspect was ordered to be detained for 48 hours.

Meanwhile, in the late hours of Wednesday evening, the Police arrested the second suspect.

In an official announcement, the police announced that investigators from the regional investigation sector in Mitrovica South, after intensive investigative work, have managed to locate and arrest the suspect BI, 33 years old.

"The suspect BI, male, 33 years old, was arrested in Pristina and material evidence related to the case was found and seized from him," the police statement said.

The police also announce that investigators, in coordination with the state prosecutor, are taking all necessary procedural and investigative actions to clarify the full circumstances of the incident. /Telegrafi/
