A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 on the Richter scale has interrupted a press conference by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, which was taking place in Mexico City.

The moment the earthquake warning system was activated, the president, along with journalists, were forced to immediately leave the hall.


After stabilizing the situation and security checks, Sheinbaum returned to the hall and continued the press conference.

According to authorities, a magnitude 6.5 earthquake has been recorded in the south of the country. Preliminary reports indicate that there are no casualties or serious material damage.

However, 12 people were reported injured in the capital, confirmed Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada.

Local authorities and emergency teams have continued checks in the affected areas to ensure the safety of citizens. /Telegraph/
