CEC member from KDTP announces resignation, Kryeziu: Serious alarm for the electoral process

The member of the Central Election Commission from the Turkish Democratic Party of Kosovo, Mufera Srbica Şinik, has announced that she will resign from her position due to an action that she described as illegal.
She made this warning at yesterday's CEC meeting.
Meanwhile, the director of KDI, Ismet Kryeziu, has reacted to this. In a post on Facebook, Kryeziu said that Şinik's announcement that he will resign is an alarming signal.
"The warning of Ms. Müferra Şinik, a member of the CEC, that she may resign due to pressure is an alarming signal for the toxic and threatening environment in which the organization of the elections at the CEC is going through. This development not only speaks of the internal problems of the CEC, but also reflects the polarized political climate in which this constitutional institution is functioning," Kryeziu wrote.
He added that since the establishment of the CEC, this is the first time that a member has publicly declared that she is failing to exercise her mandate responsibly, as a result of political pressures.
"This warning should serve as a serious alarm for state security institutions, but also for the political parties themselves, which - through their representatives - are contributing to the creation of an unsafe environment around the electoral process," said Kryeziu.
Kryeziu further emphasized that if this trend is not stopped, not only the integrity of the CEC is at risk, but the credibility of the election process itself. /Telegrafi/
