Brussels meeting on missing persons canceled, Hoti: Petkovic's presence orchestrated the failure of this meeting

The meeting planned to be held today in Brussels between Kosovo and Serbia was not held due to the Serbian side's refusal.

This was announced through a post on the social network Facebook by the chairman of the Kosovo Government Commission for Missing Persons, Andin Hoti.

According to him, Serbia's chief negotiator was present in Brussels, but as he said, "I am not clear what he requested there, since the meeting was only scheduled for the issue of Missing Persons, and the format was with substitutes of the Commissions."

"Today, January 15, 2025, the meeting of the Joint Commission on Missing Persons was scheduled to be held in Brussels as announced.

However, the meeting did not take place due to Serbia's refusal to participate in this meeting, even though the meeting had been planned two weeks ago.

Serbia's chief negotiator was present in Brussels, although it is not clear to me what he sought there, since the meeting was only scheduled for the issue of Missing Persons, and the format was with substitutes for the Commissions.

"Petkovic's presence in Brussels is the clearest evidence that he orchestrated and guaranteed the failure of the planned meeting, turning a vital technical process into a shameful tool of politicization and obstruction," Hoti wrote.

He further said that Serbia's justification for not participating in the meeting, besides being banal, is also harmful to the process of clarifying the fate of missing persons.

"This demonstrates for the umpteenth time Serbia's lack of willingness to cooperate on this important issue."

This once again shows Serbia's extreme politicization in relation to the issue of missing persons.

Meanwhile, the Kosovo delegation has held meetings with representatives of the European Union and has presented our demands according to the foreseen agenda, and for this we have received notification from Lajcak that our constructiveness and our demands will be reported to the EU member states.

"We continue to seek a just and lasting solution to the issue of Missing Persons, hoping for the full cooperation of all parties involved," Hoti wrote on Facebook. /Telegrafi/
