"The media deceived him", Laporta defends Raphinha after the comments he made against Barcelona

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has accused the media of misleading captain Raphinha into making comments about the club and building an image that was not true.

The Brazilian had indicated last week that due to the club's financial situation, he would also have doubts about whether he wanted to move there.

Last week, Raphinha admitted that with Barcelona having been unable to sign Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, he would personally consider whether he wanted to join them.

"The captain's criticisms are not true. You sent Raphinha down the wrong path, you deceived him."

"He said that Barcelona is the best club he could be at," Laporta said.

"It's another thing if they tell you things from the outside with a wrong conclusion, predicting the apocalypse. Winning on the field and in the office has not served us to lose."

"Raphinha got confused. He wanted to praise the greatness of Barcelona and you only got part of what he said."

"The criticisms from Raphinha are not true. He never said what was reported. You just used some of his words and you know that they were not in the meaning he meant," he concluded./Telegraph/
