Undisputed style, but the choice of shoes brought numerous comments from the public

First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, marked the official start of the holiday season at the White House by hosting the traditional Christmas tree, which was ceremoniously brought in from a tree farm in Michigan.

This year, this very farm received for the first time the honor of supplying the official White House tree for 2025, a privilege that is granted annually to a producer selected by the National Christmas Tree Association.

The tree was transported in a carriage pulled by two Clydesdale horses, named Logan and Ben. The carriage was driven by three men wearing top hats, creating a festive and classic scene in front of the main entrance of the presidential residence.

During the reception, Melania Trump, wearing a cream kimono-style coat with three-quarter sleeves and long burgundy leather gloves, posed for the cameras and commented: “The tree is wonderful.” She shook hands with one of the carousels and greeted those present as the atmosphere was filled with festive music and official reception, reports the Telegraph.

However, it was her shoes that attracted public attention: Melania had chosen Manolo Blahnik printed shoes, an ultra-elegant model, but not very practical for low temperatures, which sparked numerous discussions and comments on social networks.

Fashion admirers called the combination "bold and sophisticated," while others thought a pair of boots would have better suited the cold weather and the voluminous coat's proportions.

A little traditional history

The official White House Christmas tree (known as the “Blue Room Christmas Tree”) is selected each year by the National Christmas Tree Association. Such traditions have continued since 1961, while in 2025 the decor was expected to feature new themes and surprises.

The year 2025 represented the first time a Michigan farm was the supplier of the official tree, an event that reflects the importance and prestige of this ritual in the United States.

What happens next?

  • Once the tree is cut down, a series of festive events begin at the White House:
  • Introducing the interior decorations of the White House, curated by the First Lady.
  • The traditional "rooster pardon" ceremony by President Donald Trump on November 25.
  • The unveiling of interior decorations on December 1 by Melania Trump.
