The long wait for the realization of a dream: The first nurse from the Ashkali community in Kosovo Polje

For the first time in the municipality of Fushë Kosovë, the work of a nurse will be performed by a young girl from the Ashkali community. Nurse Lumturije Jashari, was very happy about this news, expressing gratitude for the reception by the staff of the Main Center for Family Medicine, and at the same time calling for her case to serve as an example of motivation and inspiration for the young people of all minority communities in this municipality.
For the first time in Kosovo Polje, a young girl from the Ashkali community has worn the nurse's mantle.
Even at the Main Family Medicine Center.
"At the moment I am at the counter serving patients, I normally do other work, injections, infusions, whatever is necessary for all patients, I think," said Lumturije Jashari, a nurse.
Lumturije Jasharin was extremely happy when she heard the news that she had been accepted as a nurse.
"Since I'm the only one in the community, they welcomed me very well, everything was fine, I didn't expect to be so welcomed among them all... I had a little difficulty because I've been licensed and graduated since 2017, but I couldn't find myself and now after a long time I'm employed and everything has been fine," said Lumturije Jashari, a nurse.
Jashari says that serving as a nurse is the job she has dreamed of, and based on her example, she also called on young girls and boys from the communities to continue their education and turn their dreams into reality.
This news has also pleased the deputy mayor of Fushë-Kosovo, who comes from this community, giving him hope that this is just the beginning of an era that will bring employment and improve the position and conditions of the communities living there.
"There was will in the community but there was no power, this is what we are now more prepared for and close to the community... it was welcomed and the community did not believe it, because it is only the beginning of the mandate of the mayor who is in support of the communities," said Gëzim Gara - vice mayor of Fushë-Kosovo.
Although thousands of citizens from the Ashkali community live in Fushë-Kosovo, according to Gara, in employment and other spheres of public life, these figures do not even remotely reflect representation and employment. /Tv Dukagjini/
