Diamant Gashi's lawyer: His father was shocked by his son's involvement in the murder of Sergeant Muhamed Lika

Lawyer Fehmije Gashi-Bytyqi, legal representative of Diamant Gashi – one of the suspects in the murder of Kosovo Police Sergeant, Muhamed Lika – has revealed details from a meeting with her client's father, Islam Gashi.

According to her, he was extremely shocked and surprised when he learned of his son's involvement in this case.

"Yesterday, Diamant Gashi's father, Islam Gashi, a man I had not known before, came to me. He met with me and we reached an agreement for this initial phase of the defense, because he was very surprised that his son was also mentioned in this group," lawyer Gashi-Bytyqi stated on RTVDukagjini.

She added that during the conversation, Islam Gashi had clearly expressed his disappointment and sense of responsibility for the situation.

"Among other things, he told me: 'If even one percent of my son is connected to this matter, let alone I will not continue with you, but I will not allow him inside either.' That was his conscience, because this is not just the murder of an individual, but of an entire institution. Muhamed Lika was a colleague with him in the past as members of the Police."

Sergeant Muhamed Lika was killed days ago in an incident that has shocked public opinion, while authorities are continuing investigations to fully unravel the case.
