The launch of SEEK, a big day for women entrepreneurs in Kosovo

The Millennium Foundation of Kosovo (MFK), as the implementing entity of the 49 million dollar Threshold Agreement, signed between the Government of Kosovo and the US Federal Agency (MCC), launched the 20.6 million dollar project, called Subsidies for Energy Efficiency in Kosovo (SEEK), to be implemented by the German consortium GFA and HPC.
The leader of the Women in Energy project at SEEK, Janna Fortmann, assessed the launch of SEEK as a great day for women entrepreneurs. The insufficient participation of women in entrepreneurship was described as a world problem by Fortmann, but with special emphasis in Kosovo, which according to her contradicts the fact that Kosovar women know a lot about efficiency, are full of energy and interesting business ideas.
"Empowering and supporting women in entrepreneurship means helping families and the business environment, so through SEEK, we will push women to make their own decisions on investments in energy efficiency, which lead to sustainable businesses," she added.
The main speakers at the SEEK launch were Petrit Selimi, executive director of MFK, who explained in more detail the purpose of the SEEK project, highlighting the fact that 2,600 Kosovar houses and apartments will benefit from the efficiency measures, as well as the USAID administrator , Mark Green, who reiterated USAID's commitment to cooperation and efforts towards the economic development of Kosovo.
SEEK aims to provide financial and technical incentives for the residential sector that enable investments in energy efficiency measures, as well as support women entrepreneurs in energy and other sectors.
The primary technical focus of SEEK interventions are energy efficiency measures that will reduce the consumption of electricity for heating and promote the use of energy-efficient heating devices, as well as incentives aimed at increasing the inclusion of women in economic opportunities. energy sector business and efficiency investments for women-owned businesses.
