Stopping waste collection in Pristina, the municipality accuses LVV and PDK assembly members

The Director of Public Services in the Municipality of Pristina, Bekim Brestovci, has reacted harshly to the company "Pastrimi", following its decision to discontinue waste collection services in the Capital.

Brestovc's reaction came exactly on the day when the Mayor of Pristina presented to the Municipal Assembly a decision to subsidize the salaries of employees of this public enterprise.

According to Brestovc, the decision to discontinue services was made by the head of "Pastrimi", Petrit Reqica, who, according to him, was politically pushed by Leutrim Retkoceri, head of the PDK assembly group in the Municipal Assembly.

"So, honorable citizens of the Capital, where would the decision of the Municipal Assembly, initiated by Leutrim Retkoceri (PDK) and supported by LVV assembly members, to monopolize the waste management sector, by authorizing only the "Pastrimi" enterprise to collect waste in the Capital, lead to Prishtina — if we were to fall victim to this decision and not take any action, which would leave the Capital without any alternative. No, Petrit Reqica. No, Leutrim Retkoceri."

He has harshly criticized the Municipal Assembly's decision to, as he called it, "monopolize the waste management sector," by authorizing only the "Pastrimi" company for this service in the Capital.

"If we did not take any action, the Capital would be left without any alternative," added Brestovci, making it clear that the municipality will not allow Pristina to be covered in waste.

He has accused company executives and certain assembly members of political sabotage and warned that “any battle for a clean Pristina is lost from the start.”
