Released just a few days ago, it seems like everyone has seen and is talking about "Adolescence."

And it's completely justified because the Netflix show has become an instant hit.

With a powerful story, the series is written and created by actor Stephen Graham.

No wonder, the four-part series has led to him being hailed as one of the 'greatest actors' ever.

Inspired by real life, "Adolescence" follows a young man named Jamie (Owen Cooper) who is accused of stabbing one of his classmates to death.

Graham plays his father, Eddie, with the likes of Christine Tremarco as mum, Manda, Ashley Walters as DI Luke Bascombe and Erin Doherty as child psychologist Briony Ariston.

The show begins with Jamie's arrest and extends throughout the year and beyond, as more details of what he is accused of come to light.

Although it may have many parents horrified and shock viewers to the core, Graham has revealed the shocking 'true story' behind adolescence.

“There was an incident where a young man [allegedly] stabbed a girl,” Graham told Netflix’s Tudum.

"It shocked me. What's going on in society where a guy stabs a girl? And then it happened again, and it happened again, and I really wanted to shine a light and ask, 'Why is this happening today?'"

There has been a recent increase in deadly knife crime among teenagers, and Graham described it as an 'epidemic among young people up and down the country', which needs to be addressed. /Telegraph/
