At the first meeting of the Kurti 3 Government, the decision was made to proceed to the Assembly with the Draft Budget Law for 2026, which could not be approved last year due to legal deadlines and political changes.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that the value of the budget is 4 billion euros.

"Today we are re-proceeding in the Assembly the Draft Law for the 2026 Budget, which was approved at the meeting of October 31 last year. This budget amounts to 4 billion euros, while 867 million euros have been foreseen for the municipalities of Kosovo," Kurti said.

He also emphasized that the budget contains the 13th salary for public sector workers, which will be paid once the budget comes into effect.

"The budget also contains funds that enable the increase in the allowance for the first 15 years of work experience for all public sector employees," the prime minister added.

The Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, said that the draft law foresees a budget of around 4 billion euros, where 3.64 billion euros are provided from budget revenues, while the rest is financed through borrowing and other methods through the deficit.

"As we explained, this draft law was processed last year and due to the inability to be approved in the Assembly, we are re-processing it once again. We take into account the change of government and there may be a need for revision, but it is urgent to have a budget approved as soon as possible for the functioning of the state," said Murati.

The Minister also proposed that the Assembly consider extending the deadline for March, due to pension payments that must be made this week, expressing hope that this request will be approved.

The draft law has been approved by the Government and will now be processed in the Assembly for final review and approval. /Telegraph/
