The first photograph of the Holy Kaaba was taken in 1880 by Turkish engineer Salih Bey.

The historic image beautifully preserves the timeless essence of Islam's holiest site, offering a glimpse into Mecca's spiritual and architectural heritage from more than a century ago.

This historic image marks a turning point in the documentation of Islamic heritage.

Shot during the late Ottoman era, it offers a rare glimpse of the sacred heart of Mecca over 140 years ago, long before modern cameras existed.

It's more than just a photo, it's a timeless window into faith, history, and devotion.

While the photo is reported to have been taken in 1880, some sources date his first documented photo of the Kaaba to 1861.

Salih Bey used the advanced wet-plate collodion process at the time to take the photo, making these images rare and significant. /Telegraph/
