The first Montenegrin satellite "Luča" has been successfully launched into low Earth orbit (LEO).

This was announced by the director of the Montenegrin Space Research Organization (MSR), Filip Jovicević, writes local media, the Telegraph reports.

Montenegro, he emphasizes, wrote a new chapter in its technological and scientific history with this act.

Previously, it was announced that the satellite would be launched by a Soyuz rocket from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, near the border of Russia and China.

"This historic success is the result of desire, perseverance, knowledge and hard work, but above all of the collective effort of people who believed that even a small country can achieve big dreams," said Jovicević.

He expressed his gratitude to everyone who was part of the project, from the idea itself to its realization.

He also says that the satellite launch is not the end, but the beginning, and that Montenegrin Space Research is turning towards an even more ambitious goal - the development of the first Montenegrin rocket, first suborbital and then orbital.

Jovicević announced that the MSR delegation will return to Montenegro on December 30, in the evening. /Telegrafi/
