Final files for former KLA leaders must be submitted by the end of January or within 60 days after the case is closed.

In a joint defense request, joined by the Prosecution, it was requested that the final files be submitted on January 30, 2026, or 60 days after the conclusion of the evidence presentation procedure.
Prosecutor James Pace said this joint request is reasonable, reports "Oath for Justice".
"Other factors that demonstrate the reasonable nature of the joint request are; the time period covered by the indictment; the ten counts of the indictment for war crimes and crimes against humanity; over 400 alleged incidents; testimony from over 250 witnesses has been heard; over 5 materials have been admitted into evidence and decisions with over 300 counts that have been accepted for which a decision has not yet been made," said the Prosecutor. The Prosecutor said that it is impossible to submit the final files on December 19, 2025.
The panel asked whether there was any issue that would prevent the closing of the presentation of evidence in this case around December 4, 2025, and asked the parties to indicate whether they agreed to the notification of this matter being made in writing and not at the hearing.
The prosecution did not object to the closing of the evidence being done in writing. Thaçi's lawyer, Luka Misetic, said that they do not foresee any additional motions that would prevent the closing of the case.
Neither of the other defense teams had any objections to the case being closed in writing.
Victims' advocate Simon Laws said they are not against the parties' joint request.
As for the final words in this case, it was requested that the hearings be held in March, possibly in April 2026.
Initially, the prosecutor said that closing statements should be made no earlier than 45 days from the submission of the final files. Luka Misetic said that they would need a full session to make their presentations in the closing statement.
Meanwhile, the Prosecution said it would take about two days to do so. /Oath for Justice/
