The fifth most expensive footballer in history is 'abandoned' by his new club after two months

Joao Felix, the fifth most expensive footballer in history, is facing new problems in his career.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Milan have no intention of signing the Portuguese star from Chelsea at the end of this season. This means that the attacking midfielder will return to London this summer.

Milan paid €5.5 million for his loan and he has made nine appearances and one assist for the Rossoneri since joining the club, failing to impress the management.

He didn't impose himself anywhere.

Felix began his career in Porto's youth system, but quickly moved to Benfica, where he became one of the best young players in Europe.

In 2019, he moved to Atletico Madrid for a then-record fee of around €127 million. Today, he is the fifth most expensive footballer in history and no one wants him.

His career at Atletico was not as successful as expected. After the 2020/21 season where he was a key player in winning the La Liga title, his performances began to fade.

In January 2023, he was sent on loan to Chelsea, where he made his debut with a red card in the defeat to Fulham.

Efforts in Barcelona and Milan

After failing to settle at Chelsea, Felix moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2024, where he played in several matches and scored several goals, including two against former club Atletico Madrid.

His stay at Barcelona was short-lived as he signed for Chelsea in August 2024 for around €55 million.

In January 2025, Felix was sent on loan to Milan, where he made his debut with a goal in the Coppa Italia against Roma.

Felix has 45 caps for Portugal, scoring nine goals. Now his career is in crisis and he will have to look for a new club. At the moment, Milan and Chelsea do not want him. /Telegraph/
