The family whose house was used for the filming of "Adolescence" reacts: We feel like we won the lottery

Netflix's new drama "Adolescence" has won over viewers, with critics calling it one of the best in recent decades.

Each of the four episodes of the crime drama about a boy accused of murdering his classmate was filmed in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

However, behind this successful production lies the story of a family who had no idea that their home would become a key location for one of the most exciting series, saying they felt like they had won the lottery.

Namely, the house that viewers had the opportunity to see on screen belongs to Bethany Fletcher and her partner Dylan Naylor.

As they discovered, the call from production company Warp Films that brought them this opportunity was the start of something they could not have imagined.

The family found out their home had been selected when they received a letter from production company Warp Films. Although Bethany initially thought it was a scam, they soon realized the offer was real.

"I called the number left on the paper anyway and before we knew it, about 20 people showed up an hour later mapping it out, taking pictures and moving things around," Bethany said.
Namely, they explained that their house was chosen because of its ideal location, as the house is at the end of the street, has lots of natural light, and is also close to a park.

Also, at that time the neighbors were confused, thinking that their house had been robbed, as they did not know what was happening. An interesting moment occurred when Stephen Graham came to see the house in person and Bethany did not immediately recognize the actor.

Filming for the series lasted three months, and during that time, the family had to move out of their home. They lived in various places, including Dylan's parents' house and Bethany's mother's house next door.

During that period, everything in the house was remodeled, even the furniture, kitchenware, and garage doors. The only original piece that remains is the kitchen table.

Although they lost many things from their home, the family kept some props, including the bed from Jamie's room, lamps from the living room, curtains and flowers.

After renting out their 1960s house in South Kirkby for filming the series, thanks to the compensation they received for filming, the couple now plan to use the funds to buy the house Bethany inherited from her mother.

The series has received great reviews from viewers and critics and is currently among the most watched content on Netflix. /Telegraph/
