The nine-goal duel ends: From embarrassment, to victory – what a Barcelona!

Barcelona miraculously picked up three points in the seventh round of the Champions League, after being embarrassed by Benfica, but ultimately triumphing 5-4.

After just two minutes of play, Vangelis Pavlidis put the Portuguese ahead with an assist from Carreras.

But Robert Lewandowski tied the score at 1-1 when he converted from the penalty spot in the 13th minute.

But Paclidis restored Benfica's lead in the 22nd minute, taking advantage of a mistake by the Catalan team's goalkeeper.

Just eight minutes later, Pavlidis completed his hat-trick, making it 3-1 after just half an hour of play.

Barcelona was in total shock and the result could have been even worse, as the Catalans' defense was terrible.

The second half started at a calmer and more cautious pace, but Barcelona were exceptional.

Raphinha initially narrowed Benfica's lead to 3-2 when he scored in the 64th minute.

But, four minutes later, Ronald Araujo, who was looking for an offside position, failed to clear the ball, putting it into his own net, restoring Benfica's two-goal lead.

The Blaugranas returned to the game, again from a Lewandowski penalty, which was scored in the 78th minute.

Eric Garcia scored with a header in the 87th minute, while Pedri was the assist for the 4-4 score, further igniting the atmosphere.

The Catalans did not give up for even a second, scoring the winning goal for 5-4 through Raphinha in the 90+6th minute.

Barcelona are currently in second place with 18 points, while in the eighth round they will face Atalanta, another difficult trip for them. /Telegraph/
