Court sentences Prince Leka Zogu and his ex-father-in-law for domestic violence

The Tirana court sentenced Prince Leka Zogu to one year in prison on charges of "domestic violence".

Due to the shortened trial, the sentence was reduced to 8 months and suspended to 16 months of probation.

Also, in application of Article 59 of the Criminal Code, the Court orders the suspension of the execution of the prison sentence and the placing of the defendant on probation for a period of 16 months, provided that during the probation period, the defendant does not commit any other criminal offense.

Judge Migena Laska also found Gjergj Zaharia, Elias' father, guilty and sentenced him to 10 months in prison. The summary trial reduced the sentence to 6 months and 20 days, and in the end, the Court decided to suspend the sentence to 1 year and 40 days on probation.

The same judge declared Elia Zaharia innocent, as the fact does not constitute a criminal offense, writes A2 CNN.

The three people who were accused of "domestic violence" were tried under summary trial procedures. Everything happened after the incident that occurred in March 2024, at the royal palace, after a fight between the Prince, his wife Elia Zaharia and her father, Gjergj Zaharia.
