Inter achieved a 3-2 victory over Juventus, but all attention remained on the red card given to French defender Pierre Kalulu.

The incident occurred in the 40th minute, when Alessandro Bastoni simulated a tackle after a light contact with Kalulu. The main referee, Federico La Penna, punished the Frenchman with a second yellow card, sending him off the match.

The decision has drawn widespread criticism in Italy, including from Gianluca Rocchi, head of the country's judges' sector. Rocchi confirmed that the decision was wrong and expressed regret for the episode.

"We are very sorry for the episode: both for La Penna's decision, which is clearly wrong, and for the fact that we were unable to use VAR to correct it."

He also added: "La Penna is desperate and we stand by him, but I have to tell you the truth: he is not the only one who made a mistake, because yesterday there was a clear simulation. The latest in a long series in a championship where they try in every way to deceive us," said Rocchi.

This incident has sparked debates over the use of VAR and refereeing decisions in Serie A, while Inter continues to celebrate victory over a traditional rival like Juventus. /Telegraph/
