Cat returns home after seven years of 'running away'

An Ontario woman was reunited with her beloved cat after 7 years and 4 months of losing him, thanks to the pet's microchip.

The Windsor/Essex Humane Society said on social media that the cat, named Julio, went missing in November 2017.

The shelter said Julio "somehow managed to evade capture" despite having a microchip and that his owner had conducted an extensive search, including placing numerous public notices.

Julio showed up at the shelter over the weekend and was given a scan for a microchip, which revealed his owner's information.

"I had lost hope. Hearing that he was alive and found yesterday was unbelievable! I'm still in shock," the cat's owner told shelter officials.

She said Julio is adjusting well back home "he's been very happy to be cuddled and listening to relaxing cat music."

Julio's owner said that the reunion after so long is "proof that we should never lose hope." /Telegraph/
