On Friday, the United Kingdom appointed Karen Pierce as special envoy for the Western Balkans.

British MP Alicia Kearns, through a post on her "X" profile, wrote that she welcomes the appointment of Karen Pierce as the United Kingdom's special envoy to the Western Balkans.

"It is essential that we work to support this important region, to which we have many historical and current commitments," she wrote, the Telegraph reports.


She also wrote that the European Union has made some big mistakes with its approach to the Western Balkans, which is why the United Kingdom needs action.

Otherwise, the United Kingdom has appointed Karen Pierce as special envoy for the Western Balkans.

The announcement states that as one of the UK's most experienced diplomats, Karen Pierce has been appointed to advance the UK's strategic objectives across the region.

"With her experience and expertise, Karen Pierce is the ideal person to take forward this important issue. I would like to thank Lord Peach for his dedication and personal service in advancing the UK's interests in the Western Balkans over the past 3 years," said British Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

The press release also announced that the United Kingdom will host a summit with Western Balkan leaders in the fall of 2025. /Telegraph/
