Oncology Accelerator and Bunker inaugurated, Kurti: This clinic, an example in the region

Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti emphasized that the Oncology Clinic is an example in Kosovo, but also in the region.
According to him, this clinic has experienced a radical transformation during his term in office, improving the treatment of patients, but also the conditions for doctors, specialists and nurses.
After inaugurating the third accelerator worth 1.6 million euros, he said that it enables the tumor to be targeted with maximum precision without damaging surrounding tissue.
Kurti also added that the Oncology Clinic now also has a bunker with accompanying spaces worth a total of 2.7 million euros.
In addition, Kurti said that under his leadership, the budget for essential medicines for patients with malignant diseases has increased from 8 million euros in 2019 to 19 million euros this year.
"In a clinic that has undergone a radical transformation during this mandate, improving the treatment of patients immensely, but also the conditions for specialist doctors, nurses and staff in general. The Oncology Clinic is an exemplary clinic in Kosovo, but also in the Balkan region. On this occasion, it should be mentioned that the number of beds has increased, where there were only 45 beds, while there are now 110 beds. But the reason we are here today is the investment in this bunker with the accompanying spaces in a total value of 2.7 million euros, the completion of which was done in record time, in just five months. Other countries much more developed than Kosovo, even in Europe, have taken up to 12 months to realize this, which was done in Kosovo in just five months. The accelerator has a total value of 1.6 million euros and is equipped with an advanced system that enables maximum precision for radiation", he said.
On the other hand, the acting Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, said that there will no longer be waiting lists at the Oncology Clinic, while adding that there will also be new investments in other clinics at UCCK.
"Within a short period of time, we are installing the third accelerator in this clinic. A modern accelerator that will serve all citizens for their X-ray treatment. On the other hand, there will be no more waiting lists. I cannot imagine a better gift for the ministry and staff, and especially for patients who have been waiting earlier, than such an accelerator. Investments in the clinic will continue. Investments will also continue in other clinics so that citizens can receive all services without having to seek these services outside of public institutions. The Oncology Clinic has become an example in this regard and most patients do not even think of going outside of Kosovo to receive these treatments. In most of them, we are an example for several other countries for receiving these treatments," emphasized Vitia.
Part of the accelerator inauguration was the director of the Oncology Clinic, Ilir Kurtishi, who also said that in the last five years, major investments have been made in the Oncology Clinic.
"These five years have really made major investments in the Oncology Clinic and they are seen and touched every day. This has brought this clinic to a very good position in terms of treating patients with malignant diseases. Not only this, but also other services that we have functionalized in the clinic, starting with the services and digitalization of the Oncology Clinic, which is gradually improving even more. The third device that was installed today truly marks a new page in the treatment of cancerous diseases with new advanced radiation techniques and patients who need these treatments", he emphasized. /Kp/
