The US welcomes the indictment: All those responsible for the attack in Banjska must be held accountable

The Embassy of the United States of America has evaluated the work of the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo, which has filed an indictment against 45 people for organizing and carrying out the terrorist attack against the Kosovo Police, in Banjska, Zveçan on September 24, 2023.

A spokesperson for the US embassy told the Telegraph that the US appreciates the completion of the investigation into the Banjska case.

"The United States appreciates the work of the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor of Kosovo and the Kosovo Police for the completion of the investigation of the attack in Banjska and the filing of the indictment. Almost a year has passed since this brutal crime that killed the sergeant of the Kosovo Police, Afrim Bunjaku. The United States reiterates that all those responsible must be held accountable," the embassy's response to the Telegraph states.

The US Embassy also encourages respect for due process and the rule of law, asking for patience while this complex case is handled in the courts.

They reiterated strong support for the rule of law, equal justice and good governance in Kosovo.

Even the European Union (EU) has welcomed the decision of the Kosovo Prosecutor's Office to indict several dozen suspects for organizing and carrying out the armed attack on the Kosovo Police in the village of Banjska in the north of the country last year, the spokesman said on Thursday. of the block, Peter Stano.

The Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo announced on Wednesday that it has indicted 45 people - including Milan Radoicic - for the armed attack in Banjska.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti said on Thursday in Pristina that the indictment could have been filed earlier, but "better late than never".

He repeated the request of the Kosovar authorities for Serbia to cooperate and hand over Radoicić to them, because "he committed the crime in Kosovo, and Banjska is in Zveçan of Kosovo".

At the end of last year, at the request of the Ministry of Interior of Kosovo, the international police organization, INTERPOL, issued an arrest warrant for Radoicić. /Telegraph/
