US President Joe Biden warned the Islamic State group not to try to take advantage of any vacuum created by the transition of power in Syria.
He said the US has carried out about a dozen "precision airstrikes" inside Syria against IS targets today, the Telegraph reports.
US Central Command (Centcom), which is responsible for US interests in the Middle East, Central and South Asia, has provided details of these attacks.
Centcom says the US carried out more than 75 airstrikes on Sunday in an effort to "eliminate ISIS camps in central Syria".
They said that there are no "indications of civilian casualties".
"There should be no doubt - we will not allow ISIS to rebuild and take advantage of the current situation in Syria," said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of Centcom.
"All organizations in Syria need to know that we will hold them accountable if they partner with or support ISIS in any way," Kurilla added. /Telegraph/
