The Pentagon integrates Grok AI into its network

The artificial intelligence chatbot Grok - owned by Elon Musk - will join Google's artificial intelligence generation system within the Pentagon's network.
This was announced yesterday by the Minister of Defense, Pete Hegseth, as part of a wider plan to use military data to develop this technology.
Hegseth said that "very soon we will have core AI models in every unclassified and classified network across our entire department."
The announcement comes just days after Grok, part of Musk's social network X, drew global backlash for generating sexualized 'deepfake' images of people without their consent. Malaysia and Indonesia have blocked access to Grok, while a UK cybersecurity regulator has launched an investigation.
To try to mitigate the situation, the company has limited the image generation function to subscribers only.
Hegseth stated that Grok will be deployed within the Department of Defense later this month and that "all relevant data" from military IT systems, as well as intelligence databases, will be available for use by the artificial intelligence.
Hegseth's approach to the use of technology differs from that of the previous US administration, which encouraged the use of artificial intelligence but at the same time warned about the dangers of its abuse.
They previously stressed the need for rules that ensure responsible use of technology, especially in relation to mass surveillance, cyber-attacks and autonomous weapons systems. /Telegraph/
