The Central Election Commission (CEC) has decided to recount a total of 914 polling stations from the December 28 elections.

In 10 municipalities, the recount will be carried out in full, while in 28 other municipalities only 10 percent of the polling stations will be recounted.

According to the CEC, the decision was made following a report by the CEC Secretariat (SCEC), which, during the control of video recordings from the Municipal Counting Centers, had identified discrepancies between the votes counted and those marked on the ballots.

Subsequently, the CESC conducted internal verification of ballots in 2 percent of polling stations, or 52 polling stations from all municipalities of Kosovo.

"It is understood that as of January 12, 33 polling stations have been verified, where it results that the votes of the candidates counted at the Municipal Counting Centers do not match those recorded on the ballots," the CEC announced.

Based on these findings, the CEC has decided that the recount of all polling stations will take place in 10 municipalities: Dragash, Kaçanik, Leposaviq, Prizren, Skenderaj, Shtime, Ferizaj, Vushtrri, Mamushë and Ranillug.

Meanwhile, 10 percent of the polling stations will be recounted in the other 28 municipalities. These are: Deçan, Gjakova, Gllogovc, Gjilan, Istog, Klina, Fushë Kosovë, Kamenica, South Mitrovica, Lipjan, Novo Brdo, Obiliq, Rahovec, Peja, Podujevo, Pristina, Shtërpcë, Suhareka, Viti, Zubin-Potok, Zvecan, Malisheva, Junik, Hani i Elezit, Gracanica, Partesh, Kllokot and North Mitrovica.

The Chairman of the CEC, Kreshnik Radoniqi, has warned that if manipulations with the candidates' votes are found after the recount, the cases will be processed by the competent bodies and will include members of the counting teams.

The recount will take place at the Counting and Results Center and begins today, January 13, at 18:00 PM. /Telegrafi/
