The Parliamentary Commission for the Pursuit of Fair and Adequate Representation, which was formed based on the agreement between the European Front and the OBRM-PDUKM, is not functioning.

In June 2024, DUI, as the leading party in the coalition, offered its votes for the reorganization of the government, and in return, they agreed to put this commission into operation. But since then, the commission has not held any meetings.

The only session held is the constitutive one, on November 11. Despite this, the head of the committee ignores answering the reasons.

"Mr. Xhaferi, why is the Inquiry Commission not functioning?… MP Talat Xhaferi, who is the chairman of the Inquiry Commission for the Pursuit of Fair and Just Representation, just passed by. However, he was not ready to give an answer."
In fact, Xhaferi did not respond to either the phone call or the text messages.

MP Ilire Dauti emphasizes that they were not part of the DUI-OBRM-PDUKM agreement because it was known that such a commission would not bring any benefit.

"There has been no development regarding that committee or that working body within the Assembly. There is a saying that goes, if you want the issue not to be resolved, form committees, that's exactly what it sounds like," said Ilire Dauti, MP for ASH-Sela.

The MP from the Turkish community, Bejxhan Iljas, who was part of the Front at the time of the agreement, but then left the coalition, is also awaiting a call for a session.

"There was only a constitutive session, while according to the rule, as we agreed at the beginning of this mandate, it was supposed to be active and we are waiting. There was no call for a session, but there is talk every day, but officially we still don't have a meeting," said Bejxhan Iljas, MP.

According to the agreement, the Commission should report to the Parliament twice a year on the issue of fair and adequate representation of all ethnic communities in state administration bodies. Although the commission does not do its job, the Albanian opposition criticizes that with the abolition of the balancer, the representation of Albanians has decreased in many institutions. On the other hand, VLEN claims that the representation has increased by 0,5% despite the lack of a balancing mechanism. /Alsat.mk
