Registration of civil status facts, MIA announces that the deadline for application is April 30

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has notified citizens that there is little time left until the deadline for applications for the registration of civil status facts in the Central Civil Status Registry, according to the Decision of the Minister of Internal Affairs No. 0616/2024 of November 21, 2024.

In a press release, the Ministry called on citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to register facts until April 30, 2025.

After this deadline, civil status facts, namely births, marriages and deaths, which were registered in non-legal Serbian structures from June 10, 1999 to February 1, 2025, will no longer be able to be registered in the Central Civil Status Registry of the Republic of Kosovo.

"We invite citizens to exercise the right to register facts according to decision No. 0616/2024 of 21.11.2024 until April 30, 2025. After this date, facts that have been registered in Serbian non-legal structures will not be able to be registered in the Central Civil Status Registry," the Ministry's announcement states.

In addition, the Ministry of Interior informs citizens that for cases of births and deaths that occurred after February 1, 2025 in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, those who cannot provide a certificate or document as evidence may submit a request for subsequent registration through a declaration, at the Civil Status Offices in the respective municipalities.

"The processing of requests, criteria and procedures will be carried out in accordance with the civil status legislation. Citizens can obtain information at the Civil Status Office where they will submit the request, regarding the documents they must submit and the criteria they must meet," the Ministry's press release states.

So far, the decision has been successfully implemented during the period 01.02.2025 to 25.04.2025, where a total of 4,330 registrations were carried out, including 2,159 births, 1,108 marriages and 1,063 deaths.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has emphasized that it is continuing to take all necessary actions to ensure the full implementation of the Decision, providing continued support to the citizens of Kosovo. /Telegrafi/
