This is the moment a teenage girl is almost swept away by the waves while taking a selfie on a harbour wall during Storm Ingrid in the UK.

The footage shows the girl walking towards the edge of the wall in Paignton, Devon, bending over as the waves crash against the side, the Telegraph reports.

She is quickly hit by the waves of the stormy sea and lets out a scream before running for cover. But instead of finding safety, she returns to the edge in an attempt to take the dramatic selfie.

The girl even takes off her coat and enters the water for a third attempt. This time, she is completely soaked by a wave that almost knocks her off balance.

Finally realizing the danger she was putting herself in, she gets out of the sea and leaves the port area.

The video was filmed by a shocked bystander last night as Storm Ingrid continues to batter southwest Britain with winds of 100 kilometres per hour. /Telegraph/
