Noticing strange things, the British man realized that he had bought his stolen car

A British man who paid more than $26,000 to replace his stolen car later discovered he had bought his car without knowing it.

Ewan Valentine, 36, from Solihull, England, said he discovered on February 28 that his black 2016 Honda Civic Type-R had been stolen from its parking space overnight.

Valentine said he was worried about the loss and hoped to replace the car with a nearly identical vehicle.

"Sure, I found one for sale. Same color, same year,..." he wrote on social media.

The license plates and VIN were different from his stolen vehicle, so he didn't think much of the similarities until he had already paid more than $26,000 for the car.

"I started noticing some strange things when I brought it home. I noticed some Christmas pine trees in the trunk. I noticed some wrapping paper in the center storage area. All of them strangely similar to my stolen car," he wrote.

Valentin decided to check the car's built-in GPS and discovered that it had previously been to his home, his parents' home, and even his partner's parents' home. /Telegraph/
