The British are investigating whether LED lights in vehicles are dangerous to other drivers

LED headlights in cars have come under fire in the UK, where thousands of drivers want them banned.

Research conducted by the British motorists' organization, the Automobile Association, shows that three-quarters of members feel dazzled by LED lights in traffic.

"Our members told us they are feeling the tension from brighter lights more than ever before," Edmund King, president of the Automobile Association, told the Daily Mail.

The situation prompted the British government to launch an independent study into the safety of LED headlights. Sky News writes on the subject: the study comes after an increase in the number of accidents in which the impact of dazzling headlights is mentioned.

In 2023, 216 accidents were reported, which is an increase compared to the previous year.

Graeme Downie, a Labour member of the British Parliament, expressed his concerns to Sky News and said that "increasing the safety of individual drivers cannot be at the expense of other road users and pedestrians."

The results of the British study are expected to be published this summer. Then it will be known what the government's stance is on LED lights. /Telegraph/
