The Municipal Assembly of Gjilan, in a solemn session led by Krenare Latifi-Kqiku, has proclaimed the humanist, Halil Kastrati, an Honorary Citizen, who together with the Municipality of Gjilan has made possible the construction of a center for the elderly, a humanitarian kitchen and a hostel for students, a proposal that came as an initiative of the Mayor, Alban Hyseni.

Present at this solemn session were institutional representatives from the local and central levels, representatives of the families of martyrs, from associations emerging from the KLA war, and numerous citizens.

"We express our sincere thanks and deep gratitude to the "Orphans of the Balkans" association for its continuous humanitarian commitment and valuable contribution to supporting orphaned children, families in need, the elderly and students. Your work and dedication are an example of solidarity, humanism and social responsibility, bringing hope and dignity to those who need it most", said Chairperson Latifi-Kqiku.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of the Municipality, Alban Hyseni, highly praised Kastrati's contribution, saying that he has done what few have managed to do, restoring hope to people in need.

"The center we will open today is a kind of covenant between us. Here our parents who have given everything will find warmth and here the young people who will build the future will find support. The humanitarian kitchen, on the other hand, is proof that in this city bread will be shared with anyone in need," said Mayor Hyseni.

"Today we are experiencing one of those days that makes us happy and gives meaning to our work in the Municipality and our lives as people. We have come together to open the doors of a house that was built with a single purpose, to not allow anyone in our municipality to feel forgotten and abandoned. The joint investment of about 2.5 million euros is undoubtedly a large investment in terms of value, but what weighs more today is the burden that we are lifting from the shoulders of our families," he added.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the Minister for Family, Work and Values of the Liberation War, Andin Hoti, spoke at this event, emphasizing that this project is in line with one of the objectives of our government and the ministry he leads.

"I am glad that I am starting my first term as minister with a project that affects the archives of our state, the elderly, and the future of our state - the students," said Minister Hoti.

On behalf of the Jashari family, Bekim Jashari spoke at this event, emphasizing that this project that will be inaugurated today is another major work of the imam Halil Kastrati.

"This is proof of his support for families in need throughout Kosovo," he said.

Meanwhile, in this solemn session, on behalf of the LDK group of advisors, assemblyman Gentrit Murseli spoke, while on behalf of the AAK group, Nazim Gagica, who highly praised the personality and humanism of the imam, Halil Kastrati.

In the end, humanist Halil Kastrati thanked the Municipal Assembly and Mayor Hyseni for the honor bestowed upon him with the highest award of Gjilan.
