The Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) has announced that unit A5 has been stopped from operation tonight on 02.02.2026 at around 20:25.

KEK has announced that this is due to a leak detected in the screens (pipe system), at a height of 10–15 meters.

"The shutdown of the unit was carried out in full compliance with technical and operational safety standards, in order to prevent any potential larger-scale defects and to enable the necessary technical repairs to be carried out," KEK announced.

While it is stated that currently KEK continues to operate according to the plan and the Electricity Balance, with four production units in operation: A3, A4, B1 and B2.

"For clarity and transparency towards public opinion, it is emphasized that under normal operating conditions, KEK operates with four production units, while during periods of low temperatures it has made maximum efforts to put the fifth unit into operation. As a result of this commitment, KEK has managed to operate, for a period, with five production units simultaneously," the announcement states.

KEK emphasizes that it remains committed to the safe, stable and efficient operation of production capacities, by implementing regular preventive and maintenance measures, in order to guarantee the stability of the country's electricity system.
