Updated 15/05/2025 09:39

The constitution of the Kosovo Assembly has failed for the sixteenth time. The session failed after the proposal that the candidate for speaker of parliament, Albulena Haxhiu, be voted on by secret ballot was not passed.

Three months after the February 9 elections, the Parliament has still not been constituted. The winning party of the elections, the Vetevendosje Movement (LVV), has not managed to secure the necessary majority to elect its candidate for Speaker of the Parliament, Albulena Haxhiu, reports Telegrafi.

In previous elections, she received only 57 votes. To secure the mandate, Haxhiu needs at least 61 votes.

The opposition parties, PDK, LDK and AAK, are opposing her candidacy.

The Telegraph will keep you informed in real time about developments in the Assembly.

Bekë Berisha: We do not expect any results from the president's meeting with political parties

AAK MP, Bekë Berisha, made a statement before today's continuation of the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly.

Berisha said he does not expect any results from today's meeting between President Vjosa Osmani and the heads of political parties.

"In fact, these two actions must also be consumed: the invitation from the president and a question we have asked the Constitutional Court. I have no hope that anything will be resolved with the president, because the political parties have declared before the meeting," he said.
