Thaçi's lawyer, Lluka Misetić, announced that the request to attend the funeral was submitted on Monday before 14:00 PM.
Misetic announced this through a post on the X platform, writing that he will not make any further comments at this time.
"I have received many media questions today regarding a statement by the Special Court this morning suggesting that my client, Hashim Thaçi, has not made any request to attend his father's funeral. Thaçi made a request yesterday before 14:00 PM to attend today's funeral. Mr. Thaçi will not attend today's funeral. I will have no further comment at this time," Misetić wrote on X.
