Tesla Cybertruck not selling as well as expected - Musk will introduce new models

The electric vehicle, the Tesla Cybertruck, was introduced in 2019 with much fanfare and thousands of announced reservations.

However, since the start of production in 2023, expectations have not been met, and it is now clear that interest has declined significantly.

The Cybertruck seems to be failing to live up to its initial promises. To address this situation, the company has decided to offer cheaper models to reduce the large stock of unsold vehicles.

According to an estimate from Cox Automotive, Tesla has sold about 39 Cybertruck units in the US over the past year (through January 13), Automotive News reports.

In October 2024, Tesla introduced a version of the Cybertruck with a starting price of $79990, including a $1995 shipping fee.

A base model is expected to go on sale this year, priced at $62,985, including shipping. Any electric vehicle under $80 qualifies for a $7500 subsidy in the US, at least until the administration of new President Donald Trump decides otherwise.

The biggest challenge for Tesla remains the fact that the Cybertruck's design polarizes the public. While the shock and uniqueness of the design were initially met with enthusiasm, it seems that they have not brought the desired results. /Telegraph/
