The return of Dani Carvajal He hasn't been at all comfortable since the knee surgery.

The Real Madrid captain is facing a lack of minutes under new coach Álvaro Arbeloa, according to journalist Edu Aguirre.

Despite being fit for over a month, Carvajal has only made two brief appearances as a substitute, with less than 30 minutes in total, and has not played in La Liga since Arbeloa took charge.

In Sunday's match, he was overlooked in favour of youngster David Jimenez, while Trent Alexander-Arnold was then brought on from the bench, a decision that is said to have left the defender disappointed.

Spanish media are reporting tense discussions between Carvajal and fitness coach Antonio Pintus, while communication between the player and Arbeloa has been minimal. The lack of a clear explanation of his role has deepened the veteran's frustration.

Meanwhile, Arbeloa has preferred to use Federico Valverde in the right-back position.

However, the coach has insisted that Carvajal remains an important part of the squad, stressing that he needs to return to optimal form and that the club will not take risks with his physical condition.

According to Arbeloa, with time and patience, the veteran is expected to regain his place in the lineup. /Telegraph/
