Riyadh meeting ends, US and Russia agree to appoint teams to work on the path to ending the war in Ukraine

Talks between American and Russian officials in Saudi Arabia have ended.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said negotiations "went well" with conditions for a meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin being discussed, the Telegraph reports.


The talks lasted four and a half hours, with Ushakov saying that negotiators have agreed with the US to discuss the war in Ukraine.

And following the Russian side, the American side has also declared that they are staying in Saudi Arabia today for talks to end the war in Ukraine.

The US State Department announced that Secretary Marco Rubio agreed with Russian officials to establish "consultative mechanisms to address issues related to US-Russia relations."

The State Department also emphasized that Rubio and Sergei Lavrov have agreed to appoint high-level teams that will work on ending the war in Ukraine as quickly as possible.

So far there are no details about what was discussed, while Trump and Putin had a phone conversation a few days ago.
