Tahiri: Kurti is holding the opposition and Limaj hostage

AAK Vice President, Besnik Tahiri, has spoken about the blockade in the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly, by not electing the Speaker of the Assembly.

Tahiri said that the fundamental problem is that the opposition is not taking a political stance, and that Kurti is "keeping the opposition and Limaj dependent."

"The fundamental problem is, first of all, there is no political position of the opposition on what it wants to do. In the absence of a political position, we are stuck in legal interpretation. On one side, Kurti keeps the opposition dependent and on the other side, he keeps Limaj dependent," Tahiri told RTV21.

He said that Adem Hoxha and Duda Balje have expressed interest in establishing the AAK parliamentary group.

"AAK has competed in a broad coalition. No one believed that we would get eight MPs. Nisma got three of them. We needed to establish a parliamentary group. We have made a call for anyone who is interested to join us in this group. Adem Hoxha and Duda Balje have expressed interest," said Tahiri.

He said that Vetëvendosje has never asked the opposition to change its position, and this is an attempt to victimize Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

"Kurti is trying to exploit the situation to say 'they won't let me', but this deadlock is not in the interest of Kosovo," said Tahiri.

He also added that AAK has not accepted the invitation from VV for a consultative meeting and that if it is invited, AAK's answer will remain "no".
