Smuggling to Kosovo: Tablets, phones and medications worth over 500 thousand euros seized in Morina

The State Police has successfully finalized the police operation codenamed "Tarifa", preventing an attempt to smuggle excise goods towards Kosovo.
In a media release, the Police announced that during the operation, various goods with a total value of approximately 54.350.000 lek were seized, as well as two vehicles that were used to transport them.
Also, the two drivers involved in the illegal activity were arrested in flagrante delicto.
"During the operation, at the exit of the Republic of Albania, the Morinë Border Police services passed to the second line for a detailed check the van vehicle driven by citizen BL, and the 'Volkswagen' type vehicle, driven by citizen FM," the Police statement said.
According to the same source, during the vehicle inspection, significant quantities of goods prohibited for trade were discovered:
In the "Volkswagen" vehicle with FM radio, 1006 boxes of medical medications, several crates with 41.000 tablets and 2.194 cell phones were found.
62 bags of tobacco, weighing a total of 930 kilograms, were found in the van driven by BL.
All goods, with a total value of 54.350.000 lek, have been seized as material evidence, along with the two vehicles.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full network involved in this smuggling case.
