Sweden hosts Macedonian counterpart, discusses border cooperation and security

The acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, hosted the Minister of Internal Affairs of North Macedonia, Pance Toshkovski, with whom they discussed cooperation between the two countries, with particular emphasis on the implementation of the recent agreement for the joint border crossing point Hani i Elezit - Blace, based on the "Entry-Entry" principle, as well as for the Glloboçicë - Jazhincë point, where very soon, with the finalization of technical works, the implementation of the same principle will begin.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed deepening bilateral cooperation between the two ministries, with a particular focus on the areas of border security, combating organized crime, illegal migration, as well as strengthening police cooperation, the Ministry announced.

Sveçla stressed the importance of regional cooperation and stressed that the recent agreement between the two countries demonstrates the readiness to advance cooperation in addressing common security challenges. He expressed the readiness of the Republic of Kosovo to further advance relations with North Macedonia in combating all types of crimes, the statement said.


For his part, Minister Toshkovski praised the existing cooperation between the two countries and emphasized the importance of exchanging experiences and information to guarantee sustainable security for the citizens of both countries.

At the end of the meeting, the two ministers agreed to intensify inter-institutional contacts and to work together on joint projects within the framework of regional and European initiatives for security and order. /Telegraph/
