Strike begins at UCCK, security workers accuse management

Physical security workers at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK), supported by the Trade Union Federation of Technical Workers of the Private Sector of Kosovo, have gone on strike due to the failure to resolve the issue of employment of physical security workers at UCCK.
The strike will continue every day from 10:00 to 15:00, until the workers' demands are met.
The President of the Trade Union Federation of Technical Workers of the Private Sector of Kosovo, Jusuf Azemi, said that the problem has passed any reasonable deadline and that, as he said, according to official information from the PPRC and the PRB, the tender can be concluded within three days, even within three hours if there is a will from the UCCK management.
"For two weeks we have not left any door open to solve the problem and shorten the deadline for these workers to stay out of the work process. Despite what we have researched at the PPRC, at the PRB, we have been told 'all doors are open, the UCCK has free hands to decide on the tender'. We have official information from everyone, both the PRB and the PPRC, that this tender can last a maximum of three days and if it is the will and desire of the UCCK, it can be completed within three hours. We are officially convinced that this is being done for the benefit of individuals within the UCCK. We say this with full responsibility, it is normal that by giving arguments the Economic Crimes Police has now come in to verify this tender, the UCCK has a maximum obligation to solve this problem within three days and for the workers to return to their workplaces. It is very normal that we are seeing and have information that many workers, especially from distant areas...", said Azemi.
According to Azemi, the relevant institutions are avoiding responsibility. He said that initially they justified themselves with the PPRC and the PRB, but official documentation proves that the UCCK is directly responsible for the delay in the process.
He stressed that this situation has left hundreds of workers without income, many of whom face loans and serious financial problems.
"These people over 85 percent have loans, for which loans can take away even a little of the wealth they have at home. The strike will continue today until 15:00 and every day we will be from 10:00 to 15:00, until it ends. It is idiocy of its own kind what they are doing ... The state has the organs and it should decide for it. Yesterday at 14:00 we communicated, while earlier we were also told by the director of the UCCK that this procedure could last three days. The deadline that was ten days ago, yesterday we were told that neither the director of the UCCK nor the director of the SHSKUK dares to take responsibility... The reasoning was told to us like this, first the PPRC, then the PRB and us, I personally have proven that it was a lie. And they said that they guarantee you and we have a letter, because they told us "At first, they are not sending us the codes. We went to the chairman of the PPRC, they gave us a letter that we have nothing to do with them, we have an official document and then the ball is finally in the court of the UCCK. Now, in the UCCK, according to the PPRC, the director must give us a signal to push the process forward. And the director is saying I do not have access there, procurement should do this work and we do not know, the director's procurement and we are left here", Azemi underlined.
The representative of the QKUK Physical Security Association, Hakif Sylejmani, also requested institutional clarification and a clear decision on their fate.
"We are in great trouble as workers at QKUK and we have a lot of injustice within the QKUK institution. Here is the issue of these tenders, the issue of returning to internal management. The issue of internal management has interfered with this. We have quite a few offers from both the ministry and the directors of SHSKUK and QKUK that we have returned to internal management, but we do not deny other companies. With which company? To start working, we have nothing against this company. We have had meetings. Hajdari has removed responsibility from himself in the last meeting. We will continue until we have a signal from the General Directorate that by this date you will have signed a contract to return to your jobs, otherwise we will continue our strike for as long as we know, one month, two months, three months", he said. /KP/Telegrafi/
