Strange road in Romania - 11 pedestrian crossings in 250 meters

The Romanian city of Ramnicu Sarat attracted the attention of the general public for a completely bizarre reason - the street where 11 pedestrian crossings have been installed.
Although this road in the southeastern Romanian city is not known for heavy traffic, authorities decided to install a total of 11 pedestrian crossings on a 250-meter segment.
City councilors say this was done for the safety of residents, and that the entire project was financed by European Union funds.
However, residents do not agree with this idea, they report. MEDIA.
"They had a lot of paint and didn't know where to use it. There's no road like this in the whole world. I've never seen anything like it before," said one of the residents.

The deputy mayor says the project is intended to stop speeding.
“We all know that the legal speed limit is not always respected on roads inside or outside residential areas. We received requests after we rehabilitated another road, and the next day we received requests for the installation of speed signs. It may seem like a lot of pedestrian crossings, but the regulations require that every intersection has a pedestrian crossing,” said Deputy Mayor Florian Nicolae.
In addition to the pedestrian crossings, a total of 22 road signs will be placed on the road for each of these crossings.
"There are no kindergartens, schools or public transport stations in that area to justify so many signs; the road is ultimately blocked, and drivers do not drive at high speeds. The situation raises questions about how regulations and the logic of the road are respected," Romanian media report.
The signs are so frequent that drivers are forced to brake constantly, while pedestrians, paradoxically, feel more confused than protected. /Telegraph/
